THE OPPORTUNITY:


The Process Technician will contribute to successful operations by monitoring, operating, adjusting and maintaining Upgrading Operations areas at the Horizon Oil Sands. We are looking for Process Technicians in different areas of our Upgrading group and each area provides the opportunity to work with different types of equipment:
Secondary Upgrading:
   o Process wash water system
   o Recycle gas compressor - dry gas seals, lube oil systems
   o H2S strippers
   o Naphtha stabilizers
   o Stripper columns
   o Cooling/inhibited water exchangers
   o Reciprocating compressors
   o Centrifugal pumps
   o Steam methane reformer
   o High temperature, high pressure reactors
   o Chemical reactions
   o Natural gas fired heaters
   o Separators/Overhead Receivers
   o High pressure steam drums, BFW circulation pumps

Sulphur Recovery Plant:
   o Amine scrubbing system
   o Diethanolamine (DEA) gas treating unit
   o Modified claus sulphur recovery units (2 trains at 450 tonnes/day)
   o SCOT tail gas treating unit using methyldiethanolamine (MDEA)
   o Sour water unit
   o Sulphur degassing unit

Coker Operations:
   o Diluent recovery unit
   o Delayed coking unit
   o Gas recovery unit and a vacuum distillation unit




HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

• Participate in process start-ups, shut-downs and isolations
• Prepare process units and equipment for routine maintenance
• Sample products, perform tests, record data and maintain a log of process conditions, changes and upsets
• Learn and implement standard operating procedures
• Apply Lock Out and Tag Out procedures contributing to a safe plant
• Issue permits following corporate industry and operations standards
• Generate computer based work orders
• Mentor and train peers through the qualification process
• Participate in safety programs and maintain a safe work environment



QUALIFICATIONS:


• Typically 3+ years of industry experience with college/technical diploma or equivalent
• 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate required; 3rd Class is preferred
• Familiarity with and understanding of working in a refinery, petro-chemical, sour gas plant or oil sands environment

THE OPPORTUNITY:



Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending for 2012 forecasted at approximately $1.55 billion with future projected spending of approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.
The Heavy Equipment Technician is a key member of the Mining Team and will support the Mine Maintenance goals and objectives by working together with the Field and Shop Maintenance Crews.
Utilize your heavy duty mechanical experience to focus on all of the maintenance requirements for designated heavy equipment such as:
   o P&H 4100 Boss Cable Shovels
   o O&K RH400 Shovels
   o CAT 797B & 777D/F Haul Trucks
   o 16H/M, 24H Motor Graders
   o D11/D375/D155/D85 Dozers and Rubber Tire Dozers
   o 992 & 988 Loaders
   o PC1800 Backhoes




HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair heavy equipment
• Utilize computerized and other testing equipment to determine repairs
• Make recommendations regarding repairs and methods for improvement
• Interpret and complete both scheduled and unscheduled Work Orders
• Create detailed service reports
• Contribute to the ongoing reliability of all heavy equipment and complete preventative maintenance requirements
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper maintenance
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work on heavy equipment as required



QUALIFICATIONS:


• Typically 5+ years of related industry experience with Grade 12 or GED
• Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman Certificate in Alberta and/or an Interprovincial “Red Seal” Certificate
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
   o Computer based Mine Maintenance Planning Program
   o Microsoft Office suite

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

• Learn the unit layout, purpose and operating parameters of the assigned systems
• Operate and monitor process equipment
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of process equipment
• Perform process sampling and laboratory testing and interpret results
• Troubleshoot and diagnose upsets and problems
• Maintain monthly and yearly plant operating records
• Participate in Team Safety Meetings and follow up on assigned items
• Utilize and further develop Training Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures



QUALIFICATIONS:


• Typically 3+ years of related industry experience with High School Diploma or GED
• Alberta Level II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate
• Alberta Level II Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification will be considered an asset
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
   o Working in the Water and Wastewater Treatment area of a large plant
   o Treated and Raw Water Systems including Pumphouses and Heat Exchangers

THE OPPORTUNITY:


Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending for 2012 forecasted at approximately $1.55 billion with future projected spending of approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.
The Performance Analyst will ensure the accuracy and completeness of monthly accounting, forecasting and annual budgeting with respect to the analysis of Corporate operating and capital costs related to Horizon Oil Sands Mining and Upgrading.
• Preparation and analysis of monthly forecasts, annual budget and long range plans for the area
• Coordinate the business area results with senior management and investigate deviations in monthly charges
• Liaise with the Horizon Attest, E1 Development, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Financial Accounting on transaction processing to provide complete analysis

***This is a contract position for 12-14 months



HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

• Collection and reporting of business area costs, including operating, maintenance and fixed assets (billed and accrued)
• Provide support to business processes that results in improved information analysis
• Perform special projects and provide support as requested by area management
• Develop and maintain appropriate financial controls and provide advice on the internal control environment and opportunities for improvement
• Assist in the development of appropriate accounting procedures within the business unit



QUALIFICATIONS:


• Typically 5+ years of related industry experience with University Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration
• Preference will be given to candidates who have completed, or are in working on, an accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
   o Financial and management accounting
   o Microsoft Office especially Excel
   o E1 (formerly JDEdwards) software an asset

** This position will require periodic travel to the Horizon Oil Sands site
